EduTrace Reaches The Store

Today, I reached another milestone with EduTrace, a research application I’ve been developing using Qt and C++. After working through several challenges with building and packaging the software on Linux, I successfully published EduTrace 0.7.0 to the Snap Store’s edge channel. Some of those challenges involved getting the application to work correctly inside Snap’s environment, including making sure its local storage and database components functioned as expected. Each issue gave me another opportunity to learn how software behaves when it moves from a development environment into a packaged application.

One of the reasons I started working on EduTrace was to explore how software can help organize historical research and preserve information for future investigation. I wanted to develop something that could support research notes and sources while keeping information stored locally. Today, the application has reached its first public Snap Store release, and I’m looking forward to continuing its development. EduTrace 0.7.0 is currently available through the edge channel, and its source code is available on GitHub.
