My CompTIA Security+ SY0-701 studies focused on cryptographic hashing, password protection, digital signatures, certificates, and public key infrastructure. SHA creates a fixed-length digest that helps verify data integrity, while HMAC combines a hash function with a secret key to confirm both integrity and authenticity. Password salting helps defeat rainbow-table attacks, and PBKDF2 strengthens passwords by increasing the work required for each guessing attempt. I also reviewed how RSA supports encryption and signatures, DSA creates digital signatures, and ECDSA provides efficient signatures with smaller key sizes for mobile devices, smartcards, and connected technology.
Digital certificates help people and systems establish trust by connecting an identity with a public key. Registration authorities confirm certificate applicants, certificate authorities issue and manage certificates, certificate revocation lists publish revoked certificates, and OCSP provides a quick status check for a single certificate. These concepts support safer websites, protected customer records, secure school resources, trusted property documents, and dependable online communication. By combining career development with steady cybersecurity practice, I am continuing to build the skills needed to protect information, solve technical problems, and support the communities that rely on modern technology every day.
