      Hedtke to Luedtke DNA Ancestor Connection

      In this post, I am focusing on the part of the line that is strongest in public records and then separating that from the part that is still being researched. The strongest public connection I can state right now is that Robert Richard Hedtke, born 18 January 1876 and died 13 February 1954, was the son of August Frederick Hedtke and Amelia Caroline Luedtke. That is supported by Robert Richard Hedtke’s public FamilySearch page, and Amelia’s maiden name is reinforced by the Carver County Historical Society newspaper index entry for “Hedtke, Amelia Caroline (nee: Luedtke) (Mrs. August Frederick), Obit, Young America Eagle, 4/24/1925.” The same maternal naming pattern also appears on the public FamilySearch page for George Carl Hedtke.

      That means the Hedtke side is useful here, but it is not the main point of this post. I only want to mention it briefly because I already discussed Martin Hedtke in my April 18, 2026 post. For this article, the Hedtke records mainly matter because they help confirm that Amelia Caroline Luedtke was a real documented person in the August Frederick Hedtke household and that her maiden name was Luedtke. The 1880 census collection is one of the places to keep checking for the Henderson household, and the National Archives page is a good starting point for following those census resources.

      The bigger question in this post is the Luedtke side. Johann Christian Luedtke is one of the most important names in this working line. Your source notes page includes a public FamilySearch link for Johann Christian Luedtke, and your research notes place him at the top of the family tree with Eva Rosina Heymann as his wife. That part is important because the line you are testing appears to run downward from Johann Christian Luedtke into later Luedtke generations that may connect to Amelia’s branch. I would present Johann Christian as a key research anchor, while still being careful not to overstate any child link unless the child-to-parent step is directly supported by public records you can point to.

      So far, one of the strongest public clues below Johann Christian is the public FamilySearch result for Martin Luedke, which says he married Maria Wille on 9 June 1820 in Gützlaffshagen, Greifenberg, Pomerania, Prussia. That matters because it gives a concrete place and marriage clue in the same part of the line you are studying. In your own notes, you are looking closely at Anna Maria Wille Lehmann as part of this cluster. I think the safest wording is that the Wille connection appears important and may help explain how the line moved through this branch, but some of the exact identity details around Anna Maria Wille Lehmann are still being researched and should not yet be written as fully settled fact.

      I would also keep Erdmann Luedtke in the post, because your notes treat him as the connecting person in the DNA-based path you are comparing to the Angela Knuth branch. That is useful as a research explanation. Still, I would separate two different ideas: first, the documented existence of Erdmann Luedtke and related tree entries; second, the stronger claim that every step from Erdmann back to Johann Christian and then forward to Amelia is fully proven. Your notes themselves already make that distinction by calling some parts proven and other parts weak. That is the right approach, and it makes the post more credible.

      For Amelia Caroline Luedtke herself, the safest wording remains careful. I think you can confidently say that Amelia Caroline Luedtke, wife of August Frederick Hedtke, was Robert Richard Hedtke’s mother, and that public records support her maiden name as Luedtke. I would also say that she is associated with Henderson, Sibley County, Minnesota through the family’s census and newspaper trail. But I would not yet say that Amelia was definitively the daughter of Martin Luedtke unless you can point to a direct record naming Martin and Dorothea Schuessel as her parents. Based on the evidence you gave me, that part is still a hypothesis rather than a finished proof.

      That is why this post works best when it clearly divides “established” from “still being researched.” Established: Robert Richard Hedtke to Amelia Caroline Luedtke, and Amelia Caroline Luedtke as the wife of August Frederick Hedtke. Still being researched: the exact step from Amelia back to Martin Luedtke and Dorothea Schuessel, and the full structure of the earlier Johann Christian Luedtke line as it comes down through the Wille branch. That careful wording does not weaken the post. It actually makes the research stronger, because readers can see exactly which parts are supported now and which parts are the next targets for proof.

      At the end of the post, I would also tell readers where the research is being organized.
