Security+ Progress and Focused Job Search Update

Today at R80E63FB5-T2Phal-002-71, I focused my time on two major areas: continuing my Security+ training and advancing my job search toward cybersecurity positions that match my long-term goals. For my study session, I watched Professor Messer’s SY0-701 Security+ Video , which covered Web Filtering (Domain 4.5). The video explained how organizations rely on firewalls, URL and content filters, reputation systems, and category-based filtering to protect both incoming and outgoing data. It also broke down how filtering works at the browser level—similar to parental controls—and how next-generation firewalls and centrally managed client agents enforce rules even when users are offsite. The lesson also detailed proxy servers, caching, access control via usernames or IP addresses, transparent proxies, and DNS filtering for environments that do not use next-generation firewalls. Understanding how these systems interact gives me a clearer picture of how cybersecurity teams prevent data exfiltration, block malicious sites, and manage secure communication paths. These concepts are crucial for the exam, and reviewing them strengthens my foundation for both certification and real-world roles.

Alongside studying, I brought my Lenovo T14 (Serial: PF2F5QTT, IP: 10.204.129.149) into the library and logged into Notion under my joneal97m account to continue searching for cybersecurity job openings. I focused on roles that connect directly to my academic background and career direction, especially positions involving digital forensics, incident response, and cybersecurity analysis. One job I found today was the Digital Forensic Examiner position, listed as DESTIMP-12843263-26-VL, which aligns with the kind of work I want to grow into—technical, investigative, and security-focused. My plan is to locate three additional openings that match my trajectory and to integrate them into my weekly job search routine. Combining active study for the Security+ with an intentional and structured search for federal or public-sector cybersecurity roles keeps me grounded and moving forward toward the stability and long-term security I’m working for.
