Today I studied Email Security for the CompTIA Security+ SY0-701 exam, focusing on how modern organizations reduce spoofing and phishing risk before messages ever reach the user. I reviewed how mail gateways act as the first line of defense, filtering suspicious messages and blocking obvious threats early. I also worked through the core domain authentication tools that make email more trustworthy. SPF helps define which servers are allowed to send mail for a domain, DKIM adds a digital signature so mail systems can verify the message was not altered, and DMARC ties those together with policy enforcement and reporting. My biggest takeaway is that email security is not just one setting. It is layered controls that confirm who is allowed to send, confirm what was actually sent, and define what to do when validation fails.
I also made steady progress on my federal job search process and continued pushing forward through required application steps in a careful and professional way. I am intentionally staying consistent and focused because I want long-term stability in the IT and cybersecurity field. My priority is building practical skills that translate into real-world work. That includes security fundamentals, clear documentation, and a calm problem-solving mindset. I am treating every day like training for the job I want next.
