Today’s session focused on Video 78 – Securing Wireless & Mobile (CompTIA SY0-701, Domain 4.1). I learned that wireless security planning starts with a site survey using tools like NetSpot, which helps map access points, SSIDs, channels, and noise levels. Blue zones show weak signals, yellow zones stronger ones. Regular surveys (e.g., Sun/Wed/Sat) help stay ahead of interference.
I also reviewed spectrum analyzers, which can identify non-Wi-Fi interference sources like microwaves or rogue emitters.
Mobile Device Management (MDM) is another key concept—used to control corporate and personal devices under BYOD, COPE, or CYOD models. Admins can remotely enforce screen locks, manage apps, and disable cameras when inside HQ.
Wi-Fi and cellular devices both face risks like on-path attacks, data capture, and denial-of-service—but they’re manageable with encryption, access controls, and user training. I also reviewed Bluetooth threats like bluejacking and bluebugging, reinforcing the value of disabling unused radios.
After the video, I completed a Security+ practice test and scored well—my first serious attempt, and it gave me a strong baseline. My next study sprint will target control classifications, AAA structure, and non-repudiation clarity, aiming to push future scores even higher.
Now I’m heading out for a 5K jog followed by an EoS gym session. Good study, clean notes, clear plan. Let’s keep the momentum.
