Federal IT Application Progress Toward Cybersecurity and Technical Support Careers

Today I worked on a federal job application for the Department of Energy, focusing on information technology, cybersecurity, customer support, systems support, and technical support roles. This application is part of my larger career plan to continue building toward a permanent federal information technology or cybersecurity position. I want my cybersecurity education, hands-on technology experience, documentation skills, and years of user support work to be useful in public service.

My background includes a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management, and more than 12 years of experience supporting technology systems in school environments. My work has included Windows and Chromebook troubleshooting, printer administration, PaperCut access, Blocksi web filtering support, website content support, student information system access requests, laptop cart support, user training, technical job aids, documentation, and general technology troubleshooting. I also included cybersecurity-related coursework and projects involving threat modeling, network security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability scanning, RFID analysis, and intrusion detection concepts.

This application is another step in my federal IT and cybersecurity career path. I am continuing to strengthen my resume around information technology management, IT specialist work, customer support, systems support, cybersecurity training, Security+ study, technical documentation, and troubleshooting. My goal is to keep applying for opportunities where my technology background, cybersecurity education, and long-term support experience can help an organization solve problems, support users, and improve technology operations.
