Cybersecurity Study, Job Applications, and Testing Recovery Plans

On June 17, 2025, I spent my afternoon at R84F46796-T2Phal-002-82. I used the time to review important recovery testing concepts from Professor Messer’s CompTIA Security+ video (SY0-701, section 3.4). The topic emphasized the value of regular tabletop exercises, failover testing, and simulations like phishing drills to prepare an organization for disaster recovery scenarios. It also covered parallel processing—a method that distributes computing tasks across multiple CPU cores or systems for greater resiliency.

This session helped reinforce the importance of redundancy in modern IT infrastructure. Things like dual internet providers, load balancers, and replicated switches and routers aren’t just theoretical—they’re foundational for high availability. I’ll be revisiting this topic soon as part of my continuing study routine leading up to the Security+ exam in November.

In parallel with studying, I submitted applications for several promising roles:

  1. IT Systems Analyst at Travere Therapeutics
  2. IT Compliance Analyst at General Atomics
  3. Junior Engineer (company not listed)
  4. Most notably, Software Systems Analyst I with San Diego Unified School District

That last position would put me at the central district office—a meaningful advancement in my career. I’m especially hopeful about it.

Every bit of progress matters. Whether it’s career steps or study milestones, I’m committed to daily forward motion. -project
