VPN Learning and Spanish Practice

Today at R8A59706F-T2Phal-002-60, I dove into my studies for the Security+ certification and practiced my Spanish basics. The time is 5:03PM on 6/5/2025, and I’m feeling productive.

I started by practicing some simple but essential Spanish words: hola (hello), gracias (thank you), (yes), no (no), and por favor (please). These will definitely come in handy as I continue my Spanish journey.

Next, I watched Professor Messer’s video on “Secure Communication – CompTIA Security+ SY0-701 – 3.2” (YouTube link: Secure Communication). The video explored VPNs, which are essential for securing data over public networks. It explained how next-generation firewalls integrate VPN concentrator appliances, which decrypt traffic that’s encrypted from the client’s operating system.

IPsec is one of the protocols used, and it wraps data in an IPsec header and trailer. This ensures that the data stays secure until the VPN concentrator decrypts it. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) also play a big role in secure web communication, running on port 443, which is the default for secure HTTPS traffic.

I also learned about SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network), which helps manage cloud-based services like databases and web apps.

On top of my learning, I applied for a Data Center Specialist role at Noblis in San Diego.

Today was a good mix of language practice, cybersecurity learning, and job searching. I’m staying focused and moving forward!
