After work today, I hiked up Cowles Mountain, reaching the top in just under 30 minutes. The climb was a refreshing way to clear my mind before heading to the San Carlos Library, where I focused on advancing my career. I found an IT-related job opening at Marriott’s new hotel in Chula Vista and submitted my application. In addition to job hunting, I dedicated time to learning about critical cybersecurity threats, including replay attacks, pass-the-hash exploits, session hijacking, and sidejacking. Understanding these vulnerabilities is crucial for IT professionals and everyday users alike.
To counter these attacks, I explored essential security tools that mitigate risks. Packet capture tools like Wireshark and Kismet help analyze network traffic for anomalies, while Scapy provides powerful packet manipulation capabilities. Browser security can be enhanced using Cookie Manager+, which identifies and secures session handling. VPN concentrators encrypt communication, shielding sensitive data from interception, and HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security) ensures websites enforce encrypted HTTPS connections. By applying these measures, both individuals and organizations can strengthen their cybersecurity posture and minimize exposure to threats.
