Strengthening Cybersecurity Knowledge Through Study and Practice

Today was another productive day in my cybersecurity journey. After an invigorating hike up Cowles Mountain, where I clocked a 32-minute ascent, I took some time to recharge before heading to San Carlos Library. You can check out my hike details here: Strava Hike Link.

With a clear focus, I applied for the IT Support Technician SSD role at Kaiser Permanente, ensuring my resume and cover letter were fine-tuned for the opportunity. Each application is a step forward in refining my approach to landing a cybersecurity role.

To continue my Security+ SY0-701 studies, I watched Professor Messer’s Video 38 on Zero-day Vulnerabilities. I reinforced my understanding of how zero-day attacks exploit unknown software vulnerabilities before patches are released. These attacks pose a significant risk, as seen in April 2023’s Chrome memory corruption flaw and Apple iOS sandbox escape in May 2023. Staying ahead requires vigilance—regular updates, behavioral monitoring, and robust security training help mitigate such threats. Strengthening my grasp of cybersecurity fundamentals through consistent learning and application is essential as I prepare for my Security+ certification.
