Bridging IT Support, Cybersecurity, and Blockchain for Career Growth

As IT support and cybersecurity continue to merge, professionals must develop skills in network security, troubleshooting, and cloud administration. My experience in technical support and cybersecurity has strengthened my ability to manage Active Directory, VLAN configurations, firewall security, and Microsoft 365 environments. Understanding these areas creates career opportunities in managed service providers (MSPs), SOCs, and IT security roles.

Today, I had my first Security+ class and watched How to Pass Your SY0-701 Security+ Exam (Video 18), where I learned about blockchain technology. Blockchain provides a decentralized, tamper-resistant ledger used in cryptocurrency, secure data backups, supply chain tracking, and digital identity verification. It ensures transaction integrity using hashing and distributed consensus mechanisms. Additionally, I learned that performance-based Security+ exam questions (3–10 total) should be completed last for better time management.

In about 30 minutes, I’ll head to the library to research four job opportunities. Tomorrow, I’ll be at EoS for a workout and church to work on my Lenten devotional, balancing fitness, faith, and professional development. As I expand my cybersecurity and blockchain expertise, I aim to strengthen security-driven IT solutions and career opportunities.
